mBenki Agent Verification
A customer can check who they are dealing with before they hand over anything.
Every certified mBenki agent carries a Digital ID with a unique code. Anyone can check that code on their own phone, in seconds, with no app and no login. We built it for our own network. It is now available to any organisation that runs one.
Why it exists
Anyone can claim to be an agent
A lanyard and a branded shirt are easy to imitate. A customer asked to share an NRC, a payslip or bank details has no way to tell a certified agent from someone who is not one.
The cost of that gap falls in three places. The customer risks handing personal data to a stranger. The organisation carries the reputational damage when it goes wrong. And the honest agent loses business to the suspicion created by the dishonest one.
What a credential has to do
- Be checkable by the customer, not just by the organisation
- Work on a basic phone with no app installed
- Reflect the agent's status right now, not when the card was printed
- Be hard to forge and easy to confirm
- Cost the customer nothing and take seconds
The Digital ID
What the record holds
- Photograph — captured at certification, so the face matches the person
- Agent code and QR — the public key to the record
- Status — active, suspended or withdrawn, updated the moment it changes
- Certification date — proof they completed training before trading
- Operating area — the province and district they are registered in
- Customer rating — from customers they have served, through a PIN only the customer receives
The ID is issued by certification, not by printing. An agent who has not completed training has no record to return. An agent who is withdrawn stops verifying the same day — there is no card to collect.

How a customer checks
Two ways, both under ten seconds
01
Enter the code
Six characters from the agent's ID, typed at verify.mbenki.com or on the mBenki homepage. The record returns instantly — photo, status, rating.
02
Scan the QR
The phone camera opens the same record. No typing, no app to install, nothing to download, no account to create.
Both routes open a plain web page that works on a low-cost Android handset over a weak connection. That constraint shaped the whole design: a verification that only works on a good phone on good data verifies nothing where it matters most.
How we use it ourselves
Verification is what makes our own network work
mBenki distributes financial products through agents who are not our employees. The credential is what makes that model acceptable to a customer, a lender and a regulator at the same time.
01
Certification gates the ID
No agent receives a Digital ID until they have completed training and KYC. The credential is the proof of certification, not a separate step.
02
The ID opens the conversation
Agents lead with it. A customer who can check the person in front of them is a customer willing to discuss a loan application.
03
Ratings follow the agent
Customers rate the agent who served them through a PIN only the customer receives. Agents cannot rate themselves. The record accumulates.
04
Withdrawal is immediate
Status changes propagate the moment they are made. An agent removed from the network stops verifying that day, wherever they are.
An agent network without public verification is asking customers to take a stranger's word for it.
White-label the platform
Run it under your own brand, for your own agents
Any organisation that sends people into communities faces the same problem we did. The verification layer is available white-label: your brand, your agents, your certification rules, on infrastructure that is already running.

Illustrative. Both records run on the same infrastructure; only the branding, the fields and the domain differ.
Your brand
Your logo, colours and domain. The verification page reads as yours, not as ours. Customers never leave your identity.
Your rules
You define what certification means, what fields appear on the record, and what status values you use. We do not vet your agents; you do.
Your data
Your agent records stay yours and are not combined with ours or any other operator's. You control what is public and what is not.
Who it suits
Insurers
Field sales teams and claims assessors visiting policyholders at home.
Utilities
Meter readers, installers and collection staff calling at premises.
Government programmes
Enumerators, social cash transfer officers and registration staff.
Other agent networks
Mobile money, distribution and last-mile networks running their own agents.
What we provide and what you keep
We provide
The verification infrastructure, the public lookup page, QR and code generation, status management, the rating mechanism, and the hosting that keeps it available.
You keep
Your agents, your certification standards, your data, your brand, and full responsibility for who you certify. We verify that a record says what you entered; we do not vouch for the person.
Commercially
Priced on the number of agents under management and verification volume. Terms are agreed at scoping.
Privacy by design
Public enough to be useful, private enough to be safe
- Minimum dataA verification page shows only what a customer needs to decide whether to proceed. No contact details, no identity numbers, no address.
- Agent consentAgents agree to their photograph and status being publicly checkable as a condition of certification.
- Not indexedVerification pages are excluded from search engines. They are reachable by code or QR, not by searching a name.
- Registered controllermBenki Solutions Zambia is a registered data controller with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
